800cc Car Petrol Subsidy: Which Small Cars Qualify, the 10-Day Token Cycle, and the Owner-Only Rule

If you drive a small car, the 800cc car petrol subsidy is not the same scheme most motorbike riders talk about. Cars up to 800cc are a distinct beneficiary class in the federal PM Fuel Relief Scheme (press-reported — Business Recorder scheme explainer; Daily Sabah, ~5 October 2026) — a different amount, a different token cycle, and one strict rule: for cars, the applicant must be the registered owner.

This guide explains which cars qualify and how the 10-day cycle works. Fuel prices have been changing daily since 17 July 2026 (press-reported), so any price here is dated.

Quick answer

  • Who it covers: Cars up to 800cc (press-reported — Business Recorder; Daily Sabah, ~5 October 2026)
  • How much: 10 litres every 10 days — 3 tokens a month, 30 litres a month in total (press-reported — Business Recorder; Daily Sabah, ~5 October 2026)
  • What it is worth: Up to Rs3,000 a month at the Rs100-per-litre relief rate (press-reported — Gulf News, ~5 October 2026). One token is Rs1,000 — that figure is arithmetic: 10 litres × Rs100.
  • Key condition: The applicant must be the vehicle’s registered owner (gov-programs.info FAQ — a secondary source, not an official government page)
  • Vehicle cutoff: Cars registered on or after 1 January 2006 qualify (press-reported — Daily Sabah, ~5 October 2026)
  • How to register: By SMS to 9771 — registration is free (press-reported — Al Jazeera, 7 October 2026; Daily Sabah, ~5 October 2026)

Which small cars qualify?

The 800cc ceiling

Eligibility is set by engine size: cars up to 800cc (press-reported — Business Recorder; Daily Sabah, ~5 October 2026). No official, complete model list was available, so engine size — not the badge — is the reported test.

Models named in press material are the Suzuki Mehran, Suzuki Alto and Suzuki Bolan (press-reported — Business Recorder).

What about 660cc Japanese imports? A 660cc engine is below an 800cc ceiling, so by size alone such a car falls under it (arithmetic/logical — not an official ruling). That is not a guarantee: no official list beyond the press-named models was supplied, and the other conditions still apply.

The 1 January 2006 cutoff

Cars registered on or after 1 January 2006 qualify (press-reported — Daily Sabah, ~5 October 2026); earlier cars fall outside the reported cutoff, even at 800cc or smaller. Keep the date to hand — you need it for the SMS. Our 9771 fuel quota guide explains the quota classes.

How the 10-day car token cycle works

Cars do not get a weekly token. An eligible car receives 10 litres every 10 days, building to 3 tokens and 30 litres over a month (press-reported — Business Recorder; Daily Sabah, ~5 October 2026).

ItemCars up to 800cc
Fuel per token10 litres
Token cycleEvery 10 days
Tokens per month3
Total per month30 litres
Relief rateRs100 per litre
Value per tokenRs1,000 (arithmetic: 10L × Rs100)
Maximum per monthUp to Rs3,000 (press-reported — Gulf News, ~5 October 2026)

The Gulf News worked example is that 800cc cars can save up to Rs3,000 a month on 30 litres (press-reported — Gulf News, ~5 October 2026). That is a maximum, based on using the full 30 litres.

If a token does not arrive, start with our petrol token not received fixes and the 9771 token guide, before registering again.

For cars, the person registering must be the registered owner — check whose name the car is in before you send the SMS.

The owner-only rule: the trap for car owners

Car eligibility requires the applicant to be the vehicle’s registered owner (gov-programs.info FAQ — a secondary source, not an official government page). Driving the car daily is not the same as it being in your name.

This matters if you drive a family car registered in a parent’s name, a used car never transferred to you, or a car owned by someone else, including a rented car. Do not assume you can register it under your own CNIC: on the car rule as reported, applicant and owner must be the same person.

Why car owners get confused: the bike rule is different

For bikes and rickshaws, the ownership requirement was dropped on 20 September 2026 (press-reported — Al Jazeera, 7 October 2026). It is easy to assume that applies to everyone — it does not, on the facts available here. No equivalent removal for cars was supplied in the verified facts, and the car FAQ position remains owner-only (gov-programs.info FAQ).

Bike and rickshaw rules are in our bike petrol subsidy and rickshaw petrol subsidy guides.
