Who sets fuel prices in Pakistan

OGRA works the formula. The Petroleum Division issues the notice. Pumps then follow that ceiling. PSO and other OMCs post the same petrol and diesel pair.

The math uses a seven-working-day average of Platts Arab Gulf prices. It also uses the rupee. When Gulf product rises, the next Pakistani board usually rises. When the rupee slips, the same thing happens.

Are prices the same in every city?

Petrol and high-speed diesel use one national ceiling. Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, and Peshawar share the petrol and diesel pair in the box above. Search “petrol price Lahore today” and you still land on that pair.

Hi-octane is different. OGRA does not lock HOBC the same way. PSO quotes it city by city.

Why petroleum prices moved

Gulf supply risk pushed product prices up. Attacks and shipping fear lifted Platts. Pakistan imports that barrel. The next OGRA notice follows it.

Recent notices have moved both ways, with small cuts and small hikes. Daily-style revisions now pass international moves faster than the old fortnight habit.

What you pay if you get the subsidy

The board in the table is the full pump rate. The token gives a fixed discount on quota petrol only.

A bike, rickshaw, or Qingqi token takes Rs 500 off the bill, whatever amount you buy. You get four tokens a month. A car up to 800cc pays the board rate minus Rs 100 a litre, on up to 10 litres per token and 30 litres a month. Extra car litres stay at the full board rate.

Diesel is not included. HSD stays at the full board price even if your REG succeeded.
