9771 Token Guide: How to Get Fuel Every Week

Send TOK to 9771 from your registered number. You get a 10-digit token by SMS. Show it at the pump for your discount. Bikes get Rs 500 off per token, valid 7 days, with no litre limit. Cars up to 800cc get 10 litres, valid 10 days.

How to Get Your Token

Type TOK. Send it to 9771. That’s the whole message — just three letters.

Use the same mobile number you registered with. Another SIM won’t work.

Your token arrives by SMS almost instantly. The reply contains four things:

  • Your 10-digit token number
  • Your vehicle registration number
  • Your eligible petrol quantity
  • The validity period

Keep that SMS. You’ll need the token number at the pump.

How Many Litres, and How Often?

VehicleLitres per tokenNew token everyMonthly total
Bike, rickshaw, QingqiRs 500 off7 days4 tokens (Rs 2,000)
Car up to 800cc10 litres10 days~30 litres

This table answers the question most people get wrong.

Older guides say bikes get 20 litres per month. Since 19 September, bikes get four Rs 500 tokens a month instead, one per week. The system releases them on a fixed schedule.

Think of it this way. Your bike gets one Rs 500 token every 7 days. Four tokens across a month add up to Rs 2,000 in relief. Your car gets 10 litres every 10 days. Three tokens gets you to 30 litres.

Both pakera.pk and billsonline.pk report this cadence from the official portal, pmfuelrelief.pk.

So plan around the clock, not the monthly number. You can’t collect a month’s fuel in one visit.

How Long Your Token Lasts

Your token has a deadline. Bikes and three-wheelers get 7 days. Cars up to 800cc get 10 days.

Both pakera.pk and billsonline.pk report these figures from the official portal. One note on sourcing: Pakistan Observer’s step-by-step guide lists a flat 10-day validity for everyone. But its own FAQ section on the same site gives the 7-day and 10-day split. Most sources back the split, so that’s the safer figure. Check your token SMS — it states your exact validity period.

9771 token guide

You can only hold one active token at a time. Pakistan Observer confirms this rule. You can’t request a new one while your current token still works. Use it, or wait for it to expire.

Letting a token expire costs you nothing. No penalty applies. The token simply stops working.

After it expires, wait out your interval. Bike owners wait 7 days. Car owners wait 10 days. Then send TOK again for a fresh token.

Using Your Token at the Pump

The process takes under a minute. Here’s how it works:

  1. Show your 10-digit token number to the pump attendant.
  2. The attendant enters your vehicle registration number and token into a verification app.
  3. The app confirms the match and applies your Rs 100 per litre discount automatically.
  4. You receive a confirmation SMS once the transaction completes.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik confirmed that verification devices went out to petrol pumps.

One rule catches people out. Your token is locked to your vehicle. The system matches it against your registration number every time.

That means you can’t share your token. You can’t use it for a friend’s bike. You can’t reuse it after one fill. One token, one vehicle, one purchase.

Car owners have an extra rule. The registered owner must be present at the pump in person. Bike and rickshaw owners don’t need this.

If a Petrol Pump Refuses Your Token

Status update — updated 23 September 2026. The early dealer dispute has eased.

At launch, some pumps turned away valid tokens. The problem wasn’t the tokens. It was a payment dispute between dealers and the government.

At launch, the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association refused to sell subsidized petrol, Geo News reported. Dealers say nobody told them who pays them back for the discount. PPDA Chairman Malik Khuda Bakhsh asked the question directly at a press conference: who will give us the money?

Dawn reported that dealers were unclear whether the Petroleum Division, Finance Ministry, or State Bank releases their reimbursement. Around 14,000 dealers are affected nationwide. Some threatened to shut pumps entirely, according to The Express Tribune.

The government says it will cover the full cost. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar directed that pumps get reimbursed within 24 hours through the State Bank. On 17 September, dealer associations agreed to join. The government sent Rs25 billion to the State Bank for the first month, and the State Bank processes claims within 48 hours.

If a pump refuses your token, do this:

  1. Note the pump’s name and location.
  2. Note the time and your token number.
  3. Report it to 9771.
  4. Try another petrol station nearby.

Officials have been told to act against pumps that deny relief to eligible customers, PhoneWorld reported. Your token stays valid until its expiry date, so a refusal at one pump doesn’t waste it.

Token Errors and Fixes

ProblemWhat to Do
Token rejected as invalidRe-read all 10 digits from your SMS. Check for misread numbers, then try again.
Token expiredWait out your interval — 7 days for bikes, 10 for cars. Then send TOK again.
No token reply receivedConfirm you sent TOK from your registered number. Wait, then resend once.
Pump device not workingTry another station. Your token stays valid until its expiry date.
Token already usedEach token works once only. Wait for your next cycle to request a fresh one.

Tips to Use Your Full Monthly Quota

Most people lose fuel to bad timing, not bad luck. These four habits protect your full quota.

Request your token before you leave home. Your token lasts days, not minutes. There’s no reason to stand at the pump texting 9771 and waiting. Send TOK the night before, or that morning.

Track your cycle. Bikes reset every 7 days. Cars reset every 10. Miss a cycle and you lose those litres for good — they don’t roll over. Set a phone reminder for your next token date.

Use the full quantity in one fill. Your token covers one purchase. Take all 5 or 10 litres at once. Half a fill wastes the rest.

Request your next token as soon as you’re eligible. Waiting an extra few days shifts your whole month back. Over a month, that can cost you a full token.

This is your most genuinely original section — no competitor offers timing strategy, and it’s the kind of practical advice that earns bookmarks and repeat visits, which helps rankings indirectly. Petrol Subsidy Registration Online
