Petrol Relief Pakistan 2026: Every Scheme Explained
Petrol is Rs386.30 per litre effective 17–19 October 2026 — and several different petrol relief schemes have been announced in Pakistan during 2026 (see Dawn for ongoing coverage). They are not the same scheme: there is a federal programme run through 9771 SMS, a Sindh motorcycle package paid by bank transfer, a Punjab provincial package, and older time-limited packages that many websites still mix up with the current one.
This guide maps every scheme in one place: what each one offers, who qualifies, and how to apply — so you can find the one that applies to you.

Petrol Relief in Pakistan: An Overview
In 2026, petrol relief in Pakistan runs on three tracks: the federal PM Fuel Relief Scheme (Rs100 per litre off petrol via 9771 SMS, launched September 2026 — official site: pmfuelrelief.pk); Sindh’s Rs2,000-per-month motorcycle fuel subsidy paid by bank transfer (announced April 2026 — current status unverified); and Punjab’s provincial fuel package. Older 2026 relief announcements — a May transport package and an April Punjab bike scheme — are separate and should not be confused with the current federal scheme.
Federal: PM Fuel Relief Scheme
The PM Fuel Relief Scheme is the federal government’s petrol subsidy, announced on 13 September 2026 by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as a “special relief package” for motorcyclists, rickshaw and chingchi owners, and drivers of vehicles up to 800cc (reported by The Standard).
How it works: eligible users get Rs100 off per litre of petrol. Motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqis and other two/three-wheelers get relief on up to 20 litres per month (four tokens of Rs500 each — worth up to Rs2,000/month). Cars with engines up to 800cc get relief on up to 30 litres per month (three tokens of 10 litres at Rs100/litre — worth up to Rs3,000/month), per Pakistan Today and Gulf News.
How to apply: register once by SMS — send REG <CNIC> <vehicle number> <province code> <registration date in DDMMYYYY> to 9771 from a SIM registered in your own name. Registration SMS is now free (Pakistan Today, 19 September). Before each pump visit, send TOK to 9771 to generate a fuel token, which the pump operator verifies.
Scale: per the October briefings, more than 8.4 million people have registered, over 10.3 million of the 12.2 million tokens issued have been redeemed across 129 districts, and the Petroleum Minister said on 4 October that more than 9 million people are benefiting (Arab News, 6 October 2026, via Radio Pakistan and the 4 October official briefing).

Sindh: Rs2,000/Month Motorcycle Fuel Subsidy
Sindh runs a separate provincial scheme: the People’s Motorcycle Fuel Subsidy, announced in April 2026, pays Rs2,000 per month directly into the beneficiary’s bank account through the Excise Department portal. It is aimed at motorcycle riders in Sindh and works completely differently from the federal scheme — no 9771 SMS, no pump token; the money arrives as a bank transfer.
Important — status unverified: we could not verify this scheme’s current position as of October 2026. Before acting on it, check the Sindh Excise portal directly for the latest position. Our detailed breakdown is here: Petrol Subsidy Sindh 2026: Rs2,000/Month Guide.
Punjab: Provincial Fuel Package
Punjab operates its own provincial fuel relief track alongside the federal scheme. Per the 26 September briefing, Punjab recorded the highest redemptions of any province at roughly 3.08 million fuel tokens redeemed. For the full Punjab-specific guide, see the full Punjab-specific guide.
Which Scheme Applies to You?
If you… | Scheme | What you get | How to apply |
|---|---|---|---|
Ride a motorcycle, rickshaw or Qingqi anywhere in Pakistan | Federal PM Fuel Relief Scheme | Rs100/L off, up to 20L/month (max Rs2,000/month) | SMS REG to 9771, then TOK before each pump visit |
Drive a car up to 800cc anywhere in Pakistan | Federal PM Fuel Relief Scheme | Rs100/L off, up to 30L/month (max Rs3,000/month) | SMS REG to 9771, then TOK before each pump visit |
Ride a motorcycle in Sindh | Federal scheme (confirmed active); Sindh’s Rs2,000/month bank-transfer scheme may also apply — unconfirmed, see below | Federal: up to Rs2,000/month relief; Sindh: Rs2,000/month bank transfer (status unverified) | Federal: 9771 SMS. Sindh: Excise portal (verify current status first) |
Live in Punjab | Federal scheme plus Punjab’s provincial package | Federal: up to Rs2,000–3,000/month relief; Punjab: provincial track | Federal: 9771 SMS. Punjab: see Punjab guide |

Old vs New: Don’t Confuse the Packages
Several 2026 announcements look similar but are not the current federal scheme:
- September 2026 — PM Fuel Relief Scheme (current): Rs100/litre petrol relief via 9771, described above. This is the live federal programme.
- May 2026 — transport relief package (earlier, time-limited): motorcyclists Rs100/litre capped at 20 litres/month for three months; truck operators transporting essential food items Rs70,000/month; large transport vehicles Rs80,000/month; inter-city public service vehicles Rs100,000/month. Provinces pooled roughly Rs200 billion for three months under the NFC formula — about Rs100 billion from Punjab, Rs51–52 billion from Sindh, Rs15 billion from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Rs8–9 billion from Balochistan (Pakistan Today, 1 May 2026). A separate, earlier package — do not treat its terms as current.
- April 2026 — Punjab motorcycle scheme (earlier): an earlier provincial bike-fuel announcement. Many web pages dated April 2026 about Punjab fuel relief are now stale; do not confuse them with the September federal scheme.
Can You Get Both Federal and Provincial Relief?
Honestly: we have not found any official statement confirming or ruling out combining the federal 9771 relief with a provincial package (for example, the federal Rs100/litre relief plus Sindh’s Rs2,000/month transfer). This is unconfirmed. Do not assume both apply — check the official channels for each scheme before counting on double relief. We will update this section when an official clarification appears.
Province Numbers: Where the Relief Is Going
Per the 26 September briefing, redemptions are led by the two largest provinces:
Province | Fuel tokens redeemed (26 Sept briefing) |
|---|---|
Punjab | ~3.08 million (highest) |
Sindh | ~1.21 million (second-highest) |
What the Relief Is Worth at Today’s Prices
At Rs386.30 per litre (17–19 October 2026, OGRA daily notification), the Rs100/litre federal relief works out as:
Vehicle | Monthly quota | Max monthly relief | Effective price you pay |
|---|---|---|---|
Motorcycle / rickshaw / Qingqi | 20 litres | Rs2,000 | Rs286.30/litre |
Car up to 800cc | 30 litres | Rs3,000 | Rs286.30/litre |
Because Pakistan now revises fuel prices daily, the pump price — and therefore the effective price after relief — moves with each OGRA notification. The Rs100/litre relief itself stays fixed.

FAQs Petrol Relief Pakistan 2026
Which scheme should a Sindh motorcyclist apply for?
Apply for the federal PM Fuel Relief Scheme via 9771 SMS — it is confirmed active nationwide, and Sindh riders are explicitly covered (Sindh recorded ~1.21 million redemptions, the second-highest of any province, per the 26 September briefing). Sindh’s separate Rs2,000/month bank-transfer scheme exists on paper from April 2026, but its current status is unverified as of October 2026 — check the Sindh Excise portal before relying on it.
Is the 9771 federal scheme available in my province or city?
Yes. Registration opened nationwide on the night of 16–17 September 2026, covering all provinces including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan (reported by NDO and LegalPoint). Tokens are being redeemed across 129 districts, per the October briefings.
How much money do I actually save each month?
Up to Rs2,000 per month on a motorcycle, rickshaw or Qingqi (20 litres × Rs100), and up to Rs3,000 per month on a car up to 800cc (30 litres × Rs100). At the 17–19 October 2026 pump price of Rs386.30, that means an effective price of Rs286.30 per litre for beneficiaries.
Is the 9771 registration SMS really free?
Yes. The government abolished SMS charges for all beneficiaries — motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqis and vehicles up to 800cc — as part of the September updates (Pakistan Today, 19 September 2026). If you were charged during the launch week, that was before the waiver.
Can I get both the federal relief and my province’s package?
No official statement we could find confirms or rules this out — it is unconfirmed. Treat the schemes as separate until an official clarification appears, and do not count on receiving both.
